Bruce Bona

February 25, 1950 — June 23, 2021

Bruce Oliver Bona, age 71, of Back Center Road, passed away with his family beside him on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.

Bruce was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on February 25, 1950, son to the late Alfred Albert and Barbara Louise (Beede) Bona.  He grew up in Lyndonville and lived here all his life.  Graduating from Lyndon Institute in the Class of 1969 he was very athletic and played quarterback. He was a member of the VT National Guard for a number of years, worked for his parents at Whites Market and later owned and operated Bruce’s Tire and Auto for over 10 years.  He loved logging and transitioned to that full time until retiring.  Bruce enjoyed fishing and sports. He coached little league and followed his players up through the years by coaching Babe Ruth as well.  Hockey was also a big favorite, and he loved the Red Sox.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Shari (Bennett) Bona of Lyndonville,  3 children: Amy Bona Briggs and her husband, Justin, of Hope, RI, Dallas A. Bona of St. Johnsbury, BoDean Bona of Miami FL, 3 siblings: Marci Duval and husband, John, of Maine, Fred “Sunny” Bona and Pam, of FL, Brian Bona and wife, Cheryl, of Lyndonville, 6 grandchildren: Ashton, Lyla, Devin, Jayden, Jazmine, Violet and Several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Service will be private with interment at the Lyndon Center Cemetery.
