Milton R. Elliott, 75, of St. Johnsbury, Vt. passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.

Born Milton Ralph Elliott on May 23, 1943, he was son to Ralph W. and Ruby (Page) Elliott. Milt was born, raised, and educated in St. Johnsbury graduating from the St. Johnsbury Trade School Class of 1961.  In October of 1961, he joined the Army and served 3 years in Germany where he received a Good Conduct Medal and was recognized as a Sharpshooter. Milton worked as a welder at Fairbanks Scales for over 40 years.

Milt was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He was a Vermont hunter safety instructor for many years. A hike for him could be 20 miles. He competed with high power rifles at Camp Perry and did Cowboy and Buffalo Shoots with the Dalton Gang of NH of which he was a member.  Milton combined his love of shooting with the special way he had with children.  He was much respected in his work with 4-H Shooting Sports and in his years as a Vermont Hunter Safety instructor.  In the 60’s and early 70’s, Milt was a member of the Civil War Hemlocks. He was also a lifetime member of the Caledonia Forest and Stream Club and the NRA.  He loved reading and rode motorcycle for many years.

Milton is survived by his sister: Susan Bunnell and husband, David, of St. Johnsbury; a niece: Shelley Newland and husband, Anthony, of St. Johnsbury; 3 nephews: Stephen Bunnell of St. Johnsbury, Eric Bunnell and companion, Angela Dase, of Waterford, and Cory Bunnell of St. Johnsbury; 7 great-nieces and nephews: Mychal and Ruby, Camryn and Jayden, Ava, and Haylee and Morgan; and many cousins.
