ABOUT US

On July 1, 2016, Stephen and Helen Robertson founded Caledonia Life Services, Inc. with the dream of serving the lower Northeast Kingdom in a variety of ways. Their first step was the purchase of Guibord & Sayles Funeral Homes on that same day.

Steve is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both Vermont and New Hampshire. He was employed at Newton Bartlett Funeral Home in Newport, NH until joining Guibord and Sayles Funeral Homes in June 2015. Steve spent that year getting to know the community he and Helen would be serving.  Helen joined Steve in St. Johnsbury in July 2016 and received her Vermont Funeral Directors License in 2020.

Rodney and Karen Sayles owned Sayles Funeral homes from 1978 until 2016. They acquired Guibord Funeral Home circa 1995. Steve and Helen were grateful for Rodney's continued involvement through 2021 as they continued getting to know the community he had faithfully served.

Sayles Funeral Home is located at 525 Summer St. in St. Johnsbury. The funeral home was renovated in the 1980s to handle large gatherings, yet the building maintains its warm Victorian charm and homey atmosphere.

Renovations to the Guibord Funeral Home (15 Main St. in Lyndonville) in the late 1990’s resulted in a spacious and accommodating funeral home facility capable of comfortably seating over a hundred attendees. The original stained-glass windows have been enhanced with windows done by local artist Elizabeth Robbins.

Don Pearsons took over The Woods & Treffren Funeral Home circa 1970 and operated it as Pearsons Funeral home until his death in 2004. In 2018, Stephen and Helen Robertson brought the Pearsons name into the Caledonia Life Services family, and they now operate their Lyndonville location as the Guibord-Pearsons Funeral Home.

Both funeral homes are adorned with artwork done by Roderick Wells depicting scenes recognizable as the local towns we serve.
