Deborah Emmons Prevost, Age 84 of West Barnet, VT and Leesburg, FL passed away peacefully September 21, 2017 surrounded by her beloved family at her home on Harvey’s Lake.
She was born on August 7th, 1933 – the only child of Herman and Madalene Emmons in Danville, VT. She grew up ‘on the green’ and graduated from UVM with a degree in Dental Hygiene.
In 1956 she married her true love, Archie Prevost, who survives her. Together they raised six children: Suzanne (George) Rollins, Gerard (Crystal) Prevost, Thomas (Rosie) Prevost, John (Shari) Prevost, Sandra (Kevin) Cunningham and Dennis (Brenda Hale) Prevost.
The joy of her life were her many grandchildren; Charles (Tiffany) Rollins, Gerri (Jon) Mathew, Katlin Cunningham, Colleen (Joey) Phelan, Margaret Cunningham, Brittany Richardson, Dennis (DJ) Prevost, Aimee Prevost, Danielle Prevost, Lucas Prevost, Michael Prevost, Ashley Rathburn and April Rathburn. She was also very excited to welcome her great grandchild Joseph Phelan to the family, joining the other two great grandchildren Brandon and Aleah. She is survived by her special cousin Clarence Emmons who was like a brother and Archie’s siblings and spouses, who all had special places in her heart. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Kevin Cunningham in 2014.
Throughout her life she enjoyed challenging herself with different ventures. In 1984 she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and worked for years at the Living Arts Center in St. Johnsbury and also taught at East Barnet school. She was very well known for her creativity and her family always looked forward to her homemade gifts at Christmas. These ranged from ‘Bob Ross’ paintings, painted wine glasses, quilts, Raggedy Ann dolls, teddy bears, quilted bags, outfits, costumes and poetry. No one was left out. In 2012 she wrote and published her book Danville Green Nostalgia.
