Charles Ladue of Lyndonville passed away on Wednesday afternoon, June 14, 2017, at the age of 86. He was employed as a nursing assistant at the VA Hospital in White River Jct. for 31 years.
He was born in Lyndonville on July 17, 1930, the son of Clarence and Alice (Cusson) Ladue. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Pauline (St. John) Ladue, on Oct. 23, 2010, and an older sister Lucille.
After graduating from Lyndon Institute, Charlie served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. A highly decorated veteran, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and several metals for his loyalty and bravery. Charlie will always be remembered as a hero by his family; he was a guy with the big heart who loved to talk and tell stories of the life he lived and flashed his smile at everyone he met.
He is survived by two daughters: Cindy Williams and husband Mark of Braintree, Vermont; Nancy Norrie and husband Larry of Lyndonville; seven grandchildren: Aubrey Kinney, Zachary Williams, Melissa Kempton, Tiffany Kempton Carr (husband Mike), Jessica Norrie, William Norrie, and Katlyn Norrie; one great-grandson Bensen Carr.
Memorial services will be held at the Lyndonville Congregational Church next Thursday, June 22 at 11 a.m. The pastor, the Rev. Judi Horgan, will preside. Burial with military honors will follow at the St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
